Marisa Pappas, LCSW LCSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Marisa Pappas holds a B.A. in Behavioral Science and received her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from San Diego State University with a concentration in mental health and aging. Marisa completed her practicum at the University of California, San Diego providing services in an inpatient psychiatric unit for older adults and delivering outpatient care at Shiley Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.
Marisa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has provided individual and group psychotherapy to the geriatric population, adults, and transitional-aged youth. She specializes in areas of mood disturbances, anxiety disorders, trauma, substance abuse, and grief & loss. She takes a client-centered and Humanistic approach in therapy where she provides psychoeducation, skills, and insight to help others create mastery over their lives, build self empowerment and acceptance, and foster overall well-being. Marisa believes in evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, and increasing her client’s awareness around mind-body connection and lifestyle factors to enhance brain health. She is passionate about reducing stigmas around mental health and promoting research-driven, innovative treatments in the realm of psychiatry.
Marisa is certified in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and has training in Acceptance and commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
